EKC Client Luxury Designer Linda Masquefa Reveals Newest Collection During Panama City Trunk Show

On March 2, 2010, luxury handbag designer Linda Masquefa will be showcasing her exclusive collection of handcrafted creations at the world culture inspired Pangea Restaurant in Panama City. The designer will be present to display her current limited number pieces, as well as reveal her newest collection.

The Linda Masquefa Trunk Show finds the designer back in the land where her creative journey began. Inspiration first struck Masquefa during a visit to a Panama crocodile farm. The unique skins were the most exquisite, wondrous materials she had ever seen and were the catalyst to her couture handbag creations. Marrying these exclusive skins with classic and innovative design, the most desirable handles, closures and accent hardware from Italy, and old world craftsmanship has placed Masquefa’s creations at the vanguard of true luxury handbag reinvention. Her luxury pieces are now housed in premier boutiques in Las Vegas, Laguna Beach and Panama City.

Pangea Restaurant, which is ancient Greek for “entire world,” sets the perfect backdrop for the intricately imagined Linda Masquefa Collection. Six rooms, each in their own unique and distinctive style, and the multi-cultured platform exude the aesthetic and artistic idealism of Masquefa’s eclectic pieces. Pangea owner Gary Doherty called on the services of interior designer Jennifer Simpson to bring to life the most beautiful cultural imagery from around the world, invoking the spirit of old worlds past while melding the highest value of current technology. Each distinct room (Asia, Caribbean, East Africa, North Africa, South America and Indian Sub Continent) all holds claim to sought-after gourmet food and the finest consumptions.

The Linda Masquefa Trunk Show will be held on Tuesday, March 2, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Pangea Restaurant, located at Calle Alberto Navarro, Casa 45-A El Cangrejo, Panama City, Panama. For reservations, email info@pangeapanama.com.

Lorena Sarbu Named Chairwoman of AHA's 'Go Red' Campaign

Beverly Hills fashion designer and boutique owner Lorena Sarbu has been named chairwoman of the American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women" luncheon, which will be held in Milwaukee, WI in May. The "Go Red" campaign encourages women to take action against heart disease, and is part of the organization's national effort to increase awareness of cardiovascular disease, the number one killer of women in the U.S.

"We are thrilled to have [Lorena] chairing this event," said Katy Boeck, Milwaukee director of Go Red for Women, "With such respected and knowledgeable women leading the way, we expect that Milwaukee women will pay close attention to the importance of addressing the very real threat of heart disease."

Only 21 percent of women say they view heart disease as the greatest threat to their health; meanwhile, more than 9,000 women in Milwaukee died last year of heart disease and stroke.

Lorena is excited to be a part of Go Red. She hopes that, through her involvement, she can help encourage women to empower themselves with knowledge about heart disease, which she says is "a serious issue that deserves more attention, especially among women."

Lorena Sarbu Talks Red Carpet Style

Beverly Hills-based fashion designer Lorena Sarbu dishes to the Yahoo Shine fashion & beauty channel about dressing Emmy winners for the red carpet:

"I don’t know about you, but the highlight of any awards show is the Red Carpet coverage. I’m more interested in what the celebrity is wearing than what there nominated for and I am very guilty of switching the channel once the red carpet segment is over! So how excited was I to interview fashion designer Lorena Sarbu, whose fashion creations have graced the red carpets of this year’s Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards shows! She went from designing dresses for her dolls as a child to designing dresses for celebrities such as Sharon Lawrence, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Tamara Braun (one of my favorite soap stars!). She was wonderful enough to talk to me about her design inspirations, her favorite designs and celeb clients, as well as her own line which launches in 2010!" (read more...)

Emily O'Brien Dons a Lorena Sarbu Gown on the Red Carpet During the Daytime Emmy Awards

Emmy nominee Emily O'Brien (Young and the Restless)
wore an exquisite dress designed by EKC client
Lorena Sarbu
on the red carpet during the
36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards

Dress Description:
Made of Italian silk chiffon, the gown is amber-effected-blue that beautifully dances from a soft turquoise blue to lilac and lavender. The true beauty lies in not only the dress and its exquisite construction, but the vintage jewel encrusted earrings that are used to create the one-of-a-kind belt. Airy and light, the gown is reminiscent of something only Grace Kelly would adorn.

"Architect to the Stars" David Applebaum to be Featured in Bravo's Newest Fashion Series, "Launch My Line"

Eileen Koch & Company's client, David Applebaum will be participating in Bravo's newest fashion creative competition series, Launch My Line, featuring 10 established fashion designers paired with 10 industry professionals who are highly regarded in their own field of expertise, but have always dreamed of having their own clothing line. From stylists, music producers, event planners to CEOs and choreographers, the innovators will work with the established designers to bring their vision to life and create a fashion line. In the end, one team will be declared the winner and someone's clothing line will be launched.

Acclaimed designers, twin brothers Dean and Dan Caten of DSQUARED2 join Launch My Line as hosts, and fashion notables Stefani Greenfield and Lisa Kline serve as judges.

Each week the teams will be put to the test, as they have to rely on each other's expertise to get through the competition. Some teams form a natural connection while others have instant tension – but at the end of every episode a complete look from each team must walk the runway and be judged in front of a live studio audience.

Don't miss out on this exciting new series! Launch My Line will premiere on Wednesday, September 16 at 10/9pm (CST). For more info, visit BravoTV.
