"Boulevard Zen" Premiere Helps Raise Funds to Support Women's Shelters Around the Country

Earlier this month we welcomed the world premiere of actor, writer, director and producer Rich Tola’s deeply nurtured work of passion, “BOULEVARD ZEN.” The feature, produced under Tola’s production company, Two Strike Hitter, garnered emotional viewer support after its initial unveiling last week. In conjunction with the film’s premiere was a spotlight on Tola’s nonprofit organization, The Boulevard Zen Foundation, Inc., in which he and his team raised more than $1,000 in donations for the spiritual-minded, humanitarian foundation.

An inspirational, life-affirming tale, ‘Boulevard Zen’ centers on the universal healing powers of yoga. The 5,000-year-old practice is given a modern-day spin by Zen’s leading character, Bobby D’Angelo, a grief stricken widower devastated by the loss of his soul mate and yoga teacher. Real estate attorney D’Angelo finds clarity and enlightenment as he travels the path of a yoga master, inspiring students along the way. This uniquely truthful depiction of personal issues positively affected by yoga extends far beyond the reach of the individuals themselves.

The Boulevard Zen Foundation is a nonprofit organization created to provide yoga instruction and education to battered women and children throughout the country. The organization was founded after Tola’s visit to a local women’s shelter where he was inspired by the facility’s rectory and retreat-like atmosphere. When he learned that the facility did not have adequate funds for yoga, Tola discovered a unique opportunity and put his business savvy into effect.

“I knew that yoga could help empower these women and children and help with the healing process,” stated Tola. “My hope is that ‘Boulevard Zen’ will educate and inspire the public about a worthy cause and the life-changing benefits of yoga. We are encouraged by the success of the film’s premiere and beyond thrilled at the generosity and compassion of everyone who donated to the Foundation.”

For more information about The Boulevard Zen Foundation, or to interview Rich Tola, please contact Eileen Koch at Eileen Koch & Company INC., 310.441.1000 or Eileen@eileenkoch.com.

EKC Welcomes Game Developer Gurparm Brar

Eileen Koch & Company is excited to welcome to its client roster entrepreneur and game developer Gurparm Brar. At only 27, Gurparm started his own company and created an application for the iPhone and iTouch-- a game that features two Asian superheroes, Mr. Singh and Mr. Lee, fighting to save the world from a Martian invasion. The game can be purchased for 99 cents, and a portion of the proceeds will go to philanthropic causes. Read more about Gurparm and the new iPhone game in British Columbia's Richmond Review:

Uniting the World, 99 Cents at a Time

Richmond’s Gurparm Brar is hoping to unite the world in a common cause through an iPhone and iPod Touch app he created, and which made its global debut on Tuesday.

Mr. Singh and Mr. Lee vs. the Martians is an old-school scrolling game with a simple premise: Shoot aliens, acquire cash, buy better weapons, rinse and repeat.

The heroes of the game are Mr. Singh from India, and Mr. Lee from China, and the game starts out with Mr. Singh using an Indian roller pin—a common household item used to make naan or roti—to fend off the seemingly endless hordes of towering red Martians invading his country. Look carefully, and there are nods to Jay Leno, Johnny Carson and Kanye West in the characters.

Players will like the simple but colourful graphics and the different ways the aliens go down, including by flamethrower, which melts the giant-headed invaders into an eye-popping black ooze (read more...)

David Applebaum on Sling.com

In an interview for Sling.com, David Applebaum talks about the "Launch My Line" elimination and how his wife inspires his designs:

I was sorry to see you go last night -- I'm usually not a fan of rompers, but I really liked yours.

Well, now I'm going to interview you! Do you think that a Bettie Page update romper like that could be beachy?

I admit I wasn't convinced when I heard you describing it, but when I saw the model wearing it barefoot, it really came a cross as a 1940s-style bathing costume, and I thought it was quite chic. (See below.)

You didn't hear that one of the comments was that it would have been sexier if the model was wearing high heels. They edited that out. But you're preaching to the choir -- bathing suits and high heels are for car shows. You actually sound almost word-for-word like my wife. My wife said, "You described it, and I was thinking oh, David, no wonder you got kicked out, that sounds awful." And then she saw it, and she thought it was cute! She liked it! This morning, she said to me, "Well, since the Bettie Page romper is not for the beach, I guess I'll wear mine to the office." It's one of the nicest things she's said to me in a while. Reality Wanted's Exclusive Interview with David Applebaum

Eileen Koch & Company INC's "Architect to the Stars" client, David Applebaum, was featured today on an exclusive interview with Reality Wanted:

This week, on Launch My Line, the teams were asked to create a daytime beachwear look. However, everyone chose their fabrics before knowing what each challenge would be and David and Julie were stuck making a beachwear item out of wool. His simple design got him eliminated from the competition and today, he spoke to RealityWanted in an exclusive interview about his experiences on the show and defend his designs.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How did you become involved with Launch My Line?
A. David: The truth is, I got a call one day with 2 questions: “Do you have a passion for fashion?” and “Have you ever wanted a clothing line?” Well, yes and yes. I believe that one starts living when one takes a chance, and Launch My Line has certainly turned into a wondrous adventure. (read more)

Applebaum was eliminated this week as a competitor on Bravo's new series, Launch My Line.

HOT From Koch :: Bryna & Boldt: A Perfect Match

Laura Bryna Joins Forces With Music Producer Rob Boldt

Resilient international recording artist Laura Bryna has announced a collaboration with the vastly versatile and seriously selective music producer Rob Boldt for her highly anticipated second full-length album, to be released in 2010. Bryna, who has established herself as a blossoming queen on the modern music scene with her signature eclectic country-pop-rock style, is taking her sound and soul to an altogether new level with the addition of Boldt.

Rob Boldt has conscientiously contributed to defining tracks by notable names like Fergie, Paula Abdul, Lou Cantrell, J.C. Chasez, & N'SYNC. With his superbly discerning ear and tenacious talent, Boldt seems a pitch perfect match for Bryna's bold and beautiful aesthetic -- a combination sure to splendidly deliver. The sophomore album to Bryna's wildly embraced debut CD, "Trying To Be Me," her second album promises to take huge leaps in experimentation, while staying firmly rooted in her distinctive, resonant and captivating sound.

Stylish Los Angeles producer Rob Boldt -- who is a composer himself -- is known for his forte and faculties with regard to music. His taste, ability and skill can be grasped as much by the company he keeps as the recordings themselves. And Bryna now joins that company and makes it sing! This is why the combination of Bryna and Boldt holds such serious promise.

"In my experience I have worked with so many talented artists, but there was something unique that I found about Laura's voice and personality that really caught my attention," states Boldt. "I'm beyond thrilled to work with such an exquisitely talented luminary and I'm utterly convinced great things lie in store for Bryna's future."

From her West Hollywood base, Maryland native Laura Bryna launched her singular singer-songwriter career fairly recently. And what volumes since have come! Last year she bowled over a sold out crowd at the famed LAX Club in Las Vegas for her debut CD release. That same year, after her stirring and contagious hit "Hometown Heroes" served as the Air National Guard's official campaign song, she was named their national spokesperson.

This year the fiery, fiercely talented Bryna rocked the House of Blues on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles to a once-again standing room only crowd, establishing her as a rocker to be reckoned with! She has also signed an international record and licensing (multi CD) agreement with AGR Television Records in Hamburg, Germany, which is distributed by Universal Music Group.

With so much in store and so much at stake, this latest collaboration with the inimitable Boldt thrusts rising star Laura Bryna onto the 2010 world stage where she belongs!

Boulevard Zen Premieres at Hollywood's Silent Movie Theatre

Rich Tola's debut film, "Boulevard Zen," premiered last night at the Silent Movie Theatre in West Hollywood. Celebrities, along with the film's cast and crew, turned out to see the inspirational docufiction, which profiles an unlikely yoga master and the powerful effects of his teachings.

In "Boulevard Zen," a young filmmaker named Elliott follows real estate attorney-turned-yoga instructor Bobby D'Angelo through a day of teaching. By the end of the day, Elliott finds that beneath Bobby's tough-guy exterior is a kind-hearted but disciplined individual, who views life as a journey down a winding boulevard.

Inspired by Tola's own life, the film used original music co-written by Tola himself, and much of the cast was comprised of Tola's own yoga students.

After the screening, Tola thanked everyone who was involved in the production of the film, which was shot in only two days and took a mere three months to complete. The audience left feeling motivated and inspired, while Tola left with donations for his nonprofit organization, Boulevard Zen, which provides yoga instruction to shelters for battered women and children.

David Applebaum Talks to BravoTV About His Designs

After sadly being eliminated from Bravo's "Launch My Line" last night, architect David Applebaum discusses his design vision and his experience on the show on the Bravo blog:

Burning Questions

Bravotv.com: Expand on why you wanted to start your own fashion line.

I create environments that both are beautiful and attempt to make one feel comfortable and confident. I have always wanted to know if I could translate that into something as intimate as designs that one can wear, not just walk through. Years ago I designed the flagship store and showrooms for a major clothing company. I spent a lot of time with the designers and we would feed off of each other in ways that enhanced each of our designs. They offered me a job, but I was on a different path. As I have gotten busier with my architecture and worked on different projects, I have always wondered… what if…

Bravotv.com: How do you think your area of expertise contributes to creating a fashion line?

It is all about starting with a blank canvas and using the basic tenants of design to create something beautiful. I like detail, movement, flow and proportion and translating that into clothing seems natural. I felt very comfortable designing, however as this was a totally different medium I could have used more time, more material choices and more sewing help… but that would go for my fellow contestants as well. The fun was trying to create something from nothing in a very short amount of time… like pulling the rabbit out of the hat. My architecture background was helpful, but in many ways this experience was more like a poker game. The outcome is determined not just by talent, but by the cards that you are dealt and how you play them. (read more...)

Lorena Sarbu in Beverly Hills Times

Fashion designer, boutique owner and EKC client Lorena Sarbu graces the cover of this month's Beverly Hills Times. The cover story explores Lorena's fashion philosophy and the inspiration behind her exquisite designs

Lorena Sarbu: Elegant, Timeless Couture

For designer Lorena Sarbu the world of design has always represented infinite magical possibilities. Through her couture creations, Lorena envisions and engenders the wealth of this artistic medium which embodies whether in premium or in trickle down styling—the influence and relevance of fresh and re-imagined design. Having designed for socialites, young and veteran Hollywood actresses, and women who know and appreciate exquisite design artistry, Lorena’s next chapter will unveil her ready to wear line to the world.

Lorena’s passion for design began as a child in Romania. Constructing a couture wardrobe for her collection of dolls was not miscellaneous play- time, but a forecast into her future. As a young adult, following the strong academic back- ground example placed by her parents, she studied psychology at the local University. Even though she excelled in this curriculum, the dreams she had as a little girl of being a designer never left her thoughts. Lorena knew her path and her calling was in the fashion industry. Upon graduating, she moved to Chicago where she formally began her studies in design. She implemented her major study with a minor in business. During her education process, Lorena continued to work on her own design ideas, building from a foundation of classic melded with elegantly sexy. This would be an integral blueprint equation for the unique, timeless and refreshing signature of a Lorena Sarbu creation. (read more...)

Rich Tola Tells FoxBusiness About His Journey Down "Boulevard Zen"

FoxBusiness recently interviewed Rich Tola about his film, Boulevard Zen, which premieres next week. Rich talks about his own unlikely transformation from real estate broker to yoga master, which served as the inspiration for the film:

Quick quiz, class. Which one has more power?

  1. The guy with degrees from Wharton and Kellogg working on Wall Street and playing in the high stakes real estate game
  2. The guy who’s a master yoga instructor and actor in Los Angeles

Rich Tola is going with option B, hands down.

“Power also comes from clarity,” Tola said in a recent interview.

The man knows of what he speaks, for if you put A and B together, you have his life. The studious high schooler and athlete, who went on to get the crème de la crème business education at Penn and Northwestern, is now living in a Hollywood bungalow from which he can see the iconic “Hollywood” sign and get a daily dose of inspiration. "Boulevard Zen" Premieres December 9

On December 9, the world will enthusiastically announce the highly anticipated, inspirational debut feature film, BOULEVARD ZEN, by actor, writer, director and producer Rich Tola. Two Strike Hitter, Tola’s Production Company, has been nurturing this powerful story for the last two years, the culmination of which crescendos into an emotional, spiritual and physical experience rarely captured so richly on camera.

A true labor of love, Tola’s day-in-the-life tale Boulevard Zen centers around Bobby D'Angelo, a man still steeped in loss and tragic death of his wife and true love, who incidentally doubled as his master yoga teacher. The film also delves into the mind and heart of an unlikely real estate attorney turned yoga master, whose nature inspires his own students through his commitment to form, his clarity of intentions, and the discipline with which he works. With an almost Darwinian approach, he is an exemplary master.

A truly universal story, Boulevard Zen brilliantly and carefully illuminates how the healing effects of yoga can truly be life changing. With both profound physical and spiritual manifestations, the film beautifully articulates yoga’s impact on personal issues such as anorexia, infertility, anxiety, hypertension, depression, domestic abuse and low self-esteem. These are remedied through a 5,000-years-old practice that, at its core, is one of balance, strength and clarity, and ultimately peace.

A film as close to Tola’s heart as to his head, Boulevard Zen’s unforgettable soundtrack was also produced by the director himself. He was also inspired to co-write the lyrics for the movie’s theme song, “Life’s Boulevard,” and can also be heard playing harmonica on “Bobby’s Song” and in the instrumentals.

As versatile as he is active, Tola studied with several master teachers in both Los Angeles and New York, holding degrees from both The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is also a certified yoga instructor with advanced training in yoga therapeutics, as well as a member of the Yoga Alliance.

Through his art, his teaching and his non-profit organization, The Boulevard Zen Foundation, Tola’s aim is a simple but mighty one: to change the world.

Lorena Sarbu Named Chairwoman of AHA's 'Go Red' Campaign

Beverly Hills fashion designer and boutique owner Lorena Sarbu has been named chairwoman of the American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women" luncheon, which will be held in Milwaukee, WI in May. The "Go Red" campaign encourages women to take action against heart disease, and is part of the organization's national effort to increase awareness of cardiovascular disease, the number one killer of women in the U.S.

"We are thrilled to have [Lorena] chairing this event," said Katy Boeck, Milwaukee director of Go Red for Women, "With such respected and knowledgeable women leading the way, we expect that Milwaukee women will pay close attention to the importance of addressing the very real threat of heart disease."

Only 21 percent of women say they view heart disease as the greatest threat to their health; meanwhile, more than 9,000 women in Milwaukee died last year of heart disease and stroke.

Lorena is excited to be a part of Go Red. She hopes that, through her involvement, she can help encourage women to empower themselves with knowledge about heart disease, which she says is "a serious issue that deserves more attention, especially among women."

Hosted by Fabrics & Furnishings International and ITMA, and moderated by publisher of Fabrics & Furnishings International, Eric Schneider, the diverse panel of highly distinguished experts in the textile industry, including Carr, will provide perspectives ranging from all aspects of business, including those in the executive, sales and marketing, and merchandising levels. Discussion topics will probe the following questions:

StubDog Founder Interviewed on MyFox New York

Sam Levessar, founder of discount ticket vendor StubDog.com, appeared on Fox New York's weekday online news show, Good Day LIVE Online, last Friday morning to discuss the site's unique business model and what distinguishes it from competitors. Sam explained that he got the idea for StubDog when we was a struggling actor who had just moved to New York, and found himself performing shows in near-empty theaters. He thought it would be great if there was a way for venues to recoup unsold tickets, while at the same time getting audiences to "try something they wouldn't normal try." After realizing he probably wouldn't be "discovered" as an actor, Sam returned to his home town of Houston to launch StubDog. The site has since developed a following among in-the-know ticket buyers, because unlike sites like TKTS.com, StubDog doesn't require standing in long lines or dealing with limited availabilty. StubDog also has an eclectic mix of ticket offerings, said Sam, ranging from off-broadway shows to beer tasting events. In addition to being a great resource for adventurous event-goers, Sam explained that Stubdog is also a good tool for venues, who can sell tickets that would otherwise go unsold, at no extra cost to them. Host Brett Larson then asked, how does StubDog make money? Sam replied that the site charges a service fee to purchase tickets, which he noted is significantly less than that of competing sites. While the site remains somewhat under the national radar, Stubdog is definitely emerging as a contender in discount ticket sales, and Sam said he has been receiving "interesting" calls from competitors as of late.

International Recording Artist Laura Bryna Featured on the Cover of Southern Beauty Magazine's Fall Issue

International recording artist Laura Bryna is almost as passionate about beauty and fashion as she is about singing. So when the publishers of Southern Beauty magazine approached her for a cover feature on her blossoming career, Bryna jumped at the opportunity.

“It doesn’t get much better than this,” exclaims Bryna, who splits her time between Nashville and Los Angeles, where she is working on a follow-up CD to her critically acclaimed debut, ‘Trying to be Me.’ “Not only did I get to talk to the editors at Southern Beauty about my music and work with the Air Guard and Make-A-Wish Foundation, but I was able to dress up in some of the most beautiful clothing you could imagine. What an incredible experience!”

The new issue of Southern Beauty is being distributed both digitally and nationally and can be seen online at www.southernbeautymagazine.com. Founded in 2007, SouthernBeauty is the only magazine dedicated to the beauty and fashion world of the Southern woman. Featuring celebrity interviews and first-person accounts of Southern glamour,Southern Beauty is the ultimate resource for beauty must-haves and spiritual growth. Other recent feature stories in the magazine have included LeAnn Rimes and Nancy O’Dell.

In the article, Bryna talks about being “blessed” to have the career she dreamed about as a kid growing up in Mt. Airy, Maryland. In addition to her music career and a recent deal with AGR Television Records (through Universal Music Group) to distribute her debut CD internationally beginning in 2010; Bryna donates a large share of her time to several causes that are dear to her heart. They include the Make-A-Wish Foundation (she’s on the board of directors for the Mid Atlantic Chapter), the Air Guard (AG) and the National Guard Youth Foundation. Bryna is a celebrity spokesperson and the voice behind the Air Guard’s national advertising – she co-wrote ‘Hometown Heroes’ which the AG adopted for the campaign.

Most recently, Bryna became a celebrity spokesperson for the National Guard Youth Foundation’s Youth Challenge Program – a 17-month commitment by at-risk teenagers who’ve dropped out of high school to get their lives back on track, and get back in school, graduate and lead productive lives. Towards that end, Bryna is working with the NGYF and the City of Los Angeles on a major Hometown Heroes event and fundraiser to be held sometime next year. This past August, Bryna celebrated some special American Hometown Heroes and Women of the Air Guard with a standing room only performance at the famous House of Blues in West Hollywood.

“Music and entertaining are my passions,” says Bryna. “Being able to make people happy and take their mind off their everyday worries for a little bit is such a thrill for me. But, it’s the other things, like helping kids through Make-A-Wish or thanking the troops who do so much for all of us that really makes it worthwhile.”

“Laura Bryna epitomizes the young, vibrant, caring Southern woman of today,” says Southern Beauty Publisher Shannon Lindsay. “We have been tracking her career for two years and there seems to be no stopping this woman. Her energy, charisma and talent are contagious!”

EKC PR Client News :: Funding Factory Partners With Sony to Offer "Planet 51" Incentive

FundingFactory, the nation’s leading fundraising-through-recycling program, today announces their most recent promotion through their collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment and its upcoming animated comedy Planet 51. The film opens in theaters November 20, 2009.

As part of its search for new, fun and creative ways to introduce kids to the importance of recycling, FundingFactory’s Planet 51 incentive promotion serves to motivate, engage and involve students in the active process of recycling.

Planet 51 is a galactic sized animated alien adventure comedy revolving around American astronaut Captain Charles "Chuck" Baker, who lands on Planet 51 thinking he is the first person to step foot on it. To his surprise, he finds that this planet is inhabited by little green people who are happily living in a white picket fence world reminiscent of a cheerfully innocent 1950’s America, and whose only fear is that it will be overrun by alien invaders... like Chuck! With the help of his robot companion "Rover" and his new friend Lem, Chuck must navigate his way through the dazzling, but bewildering, landscape of Planet 51 in order to escape becoming a permanent part of the Planet 51 Alien Invaders Space Museum.

The Planet 51 campaign will be available to all of FundingFactory’s elementary school participants. Through their partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment, FundingFactory will offer the Planet 51 Fun Pack to all participating coordinators. Mailed directly to the classroom, Fun Packs will include such items as Planet 51 movie stickers, temporary tattoos, glow-in-the-dark squeeze balls and other promotional merchandise. Teachers can utilize the Fun Pack to reward students that bring empty printer cartridges and/or used cell phones. Also included in the Fun Pack as motivational and reminder tools are Planet 51 Reminder Trading Cards and “Recycle Here” classroom posters.

To top off their fall promotion, FundingFactory will be offering a grand prize to the class that collects the most recyclable items. The prize will include a free screening of Planet 51 for the entire class. All registered and participating organizations will be eligible to enter a random drawing for the grand prize. For official rules and drawing date, visit: www.fundingfactory.com/Planet51/about.aspx.

“FundingFactory was launched with a vision to help schools raise money through the valuable effort of recycling,” states Sean Michaels, co-president of FundingFactory. “We are extremely excited to work with Sony Pictures Entertainment to help facilitate schools in raising funds and recycling awareness with these fun and creative incentives.”

Laura Bryna Tells Southern Beauty Magazine Why 'Life is Good'

Country star and philanthropist Laura Bryna discusses her sizzling music career and gives readers a peek inside her charmed life in Southern Beauty Magazine's fall cover story:

"Laura Bryna has been surrounded by heroes and amazing experiences the past year and a half. In January of 2008 Bry

After shooting the commercial for the Air National Guard, Laura took

Beverly Hills-based fashion designer Lorena Sarbu dishes to the Yahoo Shine fashion & beauty channel about dressing Emmy winners for the red carpet:

"I don’t know about you, but the highlight of any awards show is the Red Carpet coverage. I’m more interested in what the celebrity is wearing than what there nominated for and I am very guilty of switching the channel once the red carpet segment is over! So how excited was I to interview fashion designer Lorena Sarbu, whose fashion creations have graced the red carpets of this year’s Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards shows! She went from designing dresses for her dolls as a child to designing dresses for celebrities such as Sharon Lawrence, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Tamara Braun (one of my favorite soap stars!). She was wonderful enough to talk to me about her design inspirations, her favorite designs and celeb clients, as well as her own line which launches in 2010!" (read more...)

HOT From Koch :: Laura Bryna to Perform at Salute to Our Troops Dinner Gala

Laura Bryna will lend her talent to the United Service Organizations’ (USO) Salute to Our Troops dinner in Baltimore, Md., on Thursday, November 12th. The event will honor patients from local military hospitals, and attendees will include military officials, Maryland dignitaries and the families of troops.

A big talent with an equally huge heart, Bryna has long prided herself on patriotism. Her love for her country and passion for giving back are recurring themes in both her music and in her philanthropic work. Bryna’s Los Angeles debut concert, which was held at the famous House of Blues in Hollywood earlier this summer, was a packed performance that served as a tribute to America’s Hometown Heroes and to the women of the Air National Guard. The organization selected Bryna to serve as the official spokesperson and also chose her song, “Hometown Heroes” (which she also co-wrote), for the United States Air National Guard ad campaign.

The Salute to Our Troops dinner event, hosted by The USO and Michael Tabrizi, will be held at 6:00 p.m. ET at Tabrizi’s Restaurant, located at the Baltimore Maryland’s Inner Harbor. To attend Laura Bryna’s live performance, RSVP to Meghan Hardgrove at Meghan@usometro.org or 703-696-0717 by November 5th.

HOT From Koch :: Indie Feature "Teenage Dirtbag" Penetrates High School Genre with Beautiful Intelligent Realism

There is nothing more commanding and transcendent than that which is permeated by the beauty of truth, life and love. In her directorial debut of “Teenage Dirtbag” (www.teenagedirtbag.net), writer-director Regina Crosby intricately brings all these elements to life in an honest portrait of teen angst.

Premiering in Los Angeles on October 15, 2009, “Teenage Dirtbag” focuses on the story of Amber, a popular high school cheerleader played by Noah Hegesh and Thayer, a troubled delinquent classmate portrayed by Scott Michael Foster (from the leading role in ABC’s hit show “Greek”). Thayer, made to carry the weight of his brutal home life harasses Amber and her privileged existence. Fate places the opposites together in a creative writing course where, through the releasing power of the written word, Amber and Thayer form a strong bond of companionship, trust and love. The socio-economic parallels, large as life in teen existence, play as test to their newly found connection.

Finding scripted realism as art form in the teenage film genre had become relegated to forgotten treasure in the past 50 some odd years. Crosby became inspired to re-imagine this missing and important piece of our cinematic culture. Spawned from true events in Crosby’s teen years, “Teenage Dirtbag” became the quintessential fiction from reality parchment to pen, breathing air back into this missing link in the teen genre. The role of director for “Teenage Dirtbag” came by way of surprise to Crosby. An unexpected gamble by the films’ producers turned it into gold and an introduction of the next prolific American director to cinematic audiences.

The film shines through its lyrical script, honest portrayals, truthful and unique direction, and defining musical overtones. The music for the movie, choreographed by music supervisor Joey Lauren Koch (www.starbritemusicsupervision.com) incorporates the eclectic sounds of the underground, ballad crooners, pop mix and slash metal. The soundtrack also features an original composition by Geno Lenardo, former guitarist for Filter.

“Teenage Dirtbag” has garnered the approval and affections of critics, media directors and audiences of all ages… all before it’s official premiere.

The debut of “Teenage Dirtbag” will take place at 7:30 p.m. PT on Thursday, October 15, 2009, at Laemmle’s Sunset 5 (www.laemmle.com) on 8000 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, CA, 90046.

HOT From Koch :: Half is Better than Whole, Village is King and Flavors are Plentiful at StubDog.com

StubDog.com is one the nation’s fastest growing and most eclectic discount-ticket agencies. Launched in Houston, and now in Los Angeles and New York, StubDog makes more nights out, exploring new venues and discovering different entertainment genres not only possible, but majorly possible. StubDog has partnered with the biggest entertainment arenas as well as the quaintest, hippest, neighborhood secret venues to bring half price tickets to the metropolitan masses. Understanding the value of community and a premier principle since its conception, StubDog donates 10 percent of all its sales to local charitable organizations. StubDog’s wide range of variety, user-friendly website and donations to the communities in which they serve set them apart from other discount ticket retailers.

Fast forward to a time where one can click on a Website and find all the ingredients and choices for a beautiful night out from theatre and dance, comedy and sport, to speed dating and yoga. And whatever one’s cyber shopping cart click may be, the price of admission would be half that of its regular printed tag. And in this same fast forward, the wondrous evening to be had not only is conveniently secured and wallet pleasing, but also gives back to the community. Well then the time would be 2009 and the magical provider would be Texas-grown ticket maverick StubDog.

StubDog was founded in 2006 by young entrepreneur Sam Levassar. Spawned from the contemporary prerequisite Friday night question, “What are we going to do tonight?” Levassar realized for lack of a better, more comprehensive conduit to the city’s every changing events, he and most people where doing the same thing, revisiting the same places week after week. His vision was to create one cyber destination where people could discover all the exciting, great events happening throughout the city and at the same time find a way to give back to the community and to the arts. The goal set forth by Levassar and StubDog was to be able to provide people with the opportunity to try something new and entice them to explore events locally for a fraction of the normal costs.

Levassar teamed up with lifelong friend, StubDog’s vice president of operations Paul Beckwith to make StubDog and its ideals come to life. With its grass roots in Texas, offering events in Dallas, Houston and Fort Worth, StubDog successfully launched in Los Angeles in 2008, securing partnerships with The Actors Gang, The Ford Amphitheatre, White Trash Catholic Circus, Art of Boxing Promotions, Pilates Studio City and the Groundlings just to name a few. In 2009, StubDog entered the Big Apple, penetrating New York City’s market with their crowd-pleasing , fresh brand of entertainment offerings.

StubDog’s other notable partnered venues and arenas include (but are certainly no limited to): Cirque du Soleil's KOOZA, LA Dodgers, MLB, LA Wine Festival, Pasadena Playhouse, Key Club, Feinstein’s at Loews Regency, Birdland, BB King’s Blues Club, Jazz at Lincoln Center, BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music), etc. Customers are encouraged to sign up for StubDog’s weekly newsletter to keep informed on their constantly updated list of venues and events.
